Programs of the Bishop Hill Arts Council are partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency
Originially built as a hotel in 1854, but instead was used a dwelling, school, Administration Building, and later housed a bank, telephone systems switch board and apartments. A hip roof was added to this structure in 1869 to cover the orignial flat roof. This three story brick Greek revival structure was styled after the Doric Order. The clock tower has four faces, four feet in diameter with one hand on each. It was enlarged from a tall case clock brought from Sweden which is on exhibit in the building. The weights for this clock run from the tower to the ground floor. The Steeple building now houses the Bishop Hill Heritage Association's Administrative offices, Archives, and museum.
